Kilcock Church:

lawn and also, on the left hand side, a view of the covenant.
Rev. William Treacy P.P. commenced the erection of the Parochial Church
in 1862
The church was consecrated on September 1st 1867 by Dr. James Walsh,
Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin. The church was dedicated to God under
the invocation of St. Coca, a sister of St. Kevin of Glendalough.
This church is in the early gothic style. The architect was J.J. Mc
Carthy (1817-1882),
who also designed St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Armagh and was
responsible for the revival of the gothic style. The bell tower is 108
feet in height and now contains an automated bell which rings for the
Angelus at 12 noon and 6p.m., ten minutes before each Mass and at times
of Funerals. The church is 131 feet in length and 60 feet in width.
It continues to enjoy the love, affection and respect of the people of
the parish who like to gather for parish and family celebrations. People
call regularly for quiet prayer, to light a candle and to find a
peaceful moment.
The church is very popular for weddings and it’s appeal has been
recently enhanced by the development of our Jubilee Garden. |
